“Lacy bridal gown”

This is a free crochet wedding dress pattern for many dolls in four sizes. Doll sizes 8, 10, 12 or 19 inch. This is a beautiful wedding gown when made up. I made it up for a standard Barbie doll and it worked very nicely.

Doll Sizes – 8, 10, 12 or 19 inch.

MATERIALS.  2 (2, 3, 6) ozs.

Size 8 Pearl Cotton Balls – 95 yds/67

Steel Crochet Hook 5″  -Size 1 (cotton size) or any hook that will result in tension below.

6 (6, 8, 14) ins. x 26 (30, 30, 52) ins. each satin and paper nylon.

8 (10, 12, 14) ins. x 20 (30, 30, 40) ins. tulle or nylon net.

¼, (½, ¾, 1) yd. 1/4 inch White ribbon.

“Velcro” fastener or small buttons.

White Flowers.

TENSION. (Bodice) 9 sts. = 1 inch.

BODICE: Make 30 (34, 36, 62) ch., d.c. in 2nd st. from hook, * tr. in next st. of ch., d.c. in next st., rep. from * across ch., turn.

2nd row: 3 ch. (counts as first tr.), * d.c. in next tr., tr. in next d.c., rep. from * across row, 1 ch., turn.

3rd row: D.c. in first tr., * tr. in next d.c., d.c. in next tr., rep. from * across row, turn. (These 2 rows form patt.; there will always be a d.c. over a tr. and a tr. over a d.c.). Rep. the last 2 rows 0 (1, 2, 4) times.

Next row: Join ctn. in 23rd (25th, 25th, 33rd) d.k. st. before centre back, * 5 ch., sl. st. in centre st. of next d.k. st., rep. from * 43 (48, 48, 64) times, 2 ch., tr. in centre st. of next d.k. st., turn.

Next row: * D. k. st., sl. st. in centre st. of next lp., rep. from * across row, cut ctn., do not turn, miss 2 d.k. sts., join ctn. in centre st. of next d.k. st., then work 5 ch. lps. to within 2nd d.k. st. at end of short row, turn.

Next row: * D.k. st., sl. st. in centre st. of next 1p., rep. from * across row, cut ctn., rep. last 2 rows 0 (1, 1, 2) times.

Next two rounds: Join ctn. in centre of d.k. st. at centre back, work one 5 ch. lp. round and one d.k. st. round all around.

Next round: * 5 ch., sl. st. in centre of next d.k. st., 3 ch., sl. st. in same sp., rep. from * all around, cut ctn. Finish opening with “Velcro” Fastener, hooks and eyes, snaps or buttons.

BOUQUET: Make 5 (5, 6, 6) ch., join to form a ring, 3 ch., work 4 (4, 5, 6) tr. in ring join.

Next round: 1 d.c. in each st., do not join or turn this or following rounds. Place a marker at beg. of each round. For largest size only work 3 more rounds in d.c.

Next round: 2 d.c. in each d.c.

Next: 1 (1, 1, 3) rounds: 1 d.c. in each d.c., rep. the last 2 (2, 2, 4) rows 1 (1, 2, 2) times omitting last round of last rep. for largest size only.

Next round: * D.k. st., miss 2 d.c., sl. st. in next st., rep. from * all around ending to correspond, join, cut ctn., insert flowers and attach streamers as illustrated.

CORONET: Make 39 (45, 60, 88) ch., join being careful not to twist ch., 1 ch., 1 d.c. in each st. of ch., join. For largest size only work 1 more row of d.c.

Next row: * D.k. st., pull up a 1/3 (1/3, 1/3, 1/2) inch lp., miss next 2 (2, 2, 3) sts., sl. st. in next st., rep. from * all around, cut ctn. for first 3 sizes. For largest size work as follows: make a long sl. st. in centre of next d.k. st., * 6 ch., sl. st. in centre of next k. st., rep. from * all around, 6 ch., join, cut ctn. Make a thick starch and place coronet in mixture. Remove excess starch, and place on glass to dry.

VEIL: Turn long edge of tulle down 2 (2 1/2, 3, 4) ins. Gather along folded edge and sew to coronet as illustrated.

PETTICOAT: (Make 1 each of paper nylon and satin.) Draw a circle 1 (1, 11/2, 3) ins. in diameter. Starting at centre draw another circle 2 1/2 (3 1/2, 3 1/2, 6) ins. in diameter. Cut material along both lines and slash for back opening. Sew narrow hem along all edges. Cut strip of material 5 (5 1/2, 7 1/2, 14) ins. x 22 (24, 24, 25) ins. Gather 1 long edge to fit around edge of circle. Sew to edge. Sew short edges together to within I inch below circle. Sew a hook and eye to opening at waistline; hem lower edge.
