Flea Market.

"It is not just for junk anymore"

The Flea Market, is often missed by fiber crafters. Here is a home-based business idea to start off your crocheting for money. Oh yes this is another proven income opportunity.

You can work from home getting your items crocheted and than go to the market on the weekends.

I can here you all now “Flea Markets???”

Oh yes, Flea Markets:

Immediately you think, “Oh no, they only sell junk and used items.”

Ah... but that is not so anymore. Home-based business ideas, abound there. Booths are rented by jewelry sales, Dish Tv, high-end cologne sales and the list goes on.

Today there are more new items at flea markets than used. Unless you go to a small farmers flea market.

Ok, you can’t picture this. Here is an example;

I know a retired woman that has rented a booth in a huge flea market in Florida near Tampa. She has rented this booth for years. This is an inside market and she is more or less permanent. At this flea market you can buy anything from a dollar store item to brand new Brother Embroider Machines.

Her home-based business is crocheted baby blankets. Yes that is correct, just crocheted baby blankets. They are very pretty but not so complicated nor intricate that the average crocheter couldn’t make them.

The patterns she uses are the ripple, the crochet shell stitch, the granny square and basic easy crochet stitches like this. She uses beautiful pastels yarns for eye appeal.

Why she limits herself to just crochet baby blankets, I don’t know. But I do know, it works for her.

She enjoys her work and doesn’t even bother with a pattern anymore. You see her crocheting and selling every weekend at her booth. She has it set up very nicely. The way she arranges the blankets, the colors and patterns all look so beautiful.

Why has she succeeded?

She enjoys her crocheting. She displays it in a very eye catching manner.

She is always crocheting a blanket, so the customers see it demonstrated.

She also takes specials orders. Fills them on time.

She is there consistently. People know where to find her.

Yes you can make a very inviting booth at a flea market. But do choose your market wisely. There is not much call for crocheted items at a machinery flea market or yard sale type markets.

Remember to use more than one sales outlet. Do not depend on just one-revenue avenue. There are so many ways to get your items to the public. You will increase your income if you expand.

Remember flea markets should be just one of your sales avenues.

Crochet can be fast or slow, this of course depends on the projects you choose.

This site is about knitting and crochet, but mainly about building a craft business. So the pattern selections should not be too time consuming and tedious.

You can find thousands of free online crochet patterns to use. Just do not sell the patterns themselves as they are copyrighted.
